Brides Flock to Feeding Tube K-E Diet to Lose Weight Quick Before Wedding

New Jersey celebrity personal trainer, fitness expert and diet coach Carey Yang scoffs at the recent K-E Diet craze for extreme weight loss as a threat to public health leaving medicine, practice, ethics and greed at the cross roads.

Extreme Weight Loss for Wedding

"Lose 20 pounds in 10 days" is the big promise made by the most recent fad diet called "K-E Diet" or the "feeding-tube diet." The K-E Diet was featured in a New York Times article involving a nasogastric tube inserted through the nose and down into the esophagus for up to 10 days. The diet consists of a slow drip of protein and fat mixed with water, totaling 800 calories per day with no carbohydrates. The 10-day weight loss treatment costs $1500 and can result in the shedding of up to 20 pounds through ketosis, where the body burns fat instead of sugar.

K-E Diet Bridal Feeding Tube

The K-E Diet went viral in the news, TV and social media, particularly in the wedding weight loss industry. "I have many clients and friends asking me about the K-E Diet or extreme wedding weight loss diet," says Carey Yang, a certified personal trainer and fitness expert in New Jersey.

Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.

"Allow me to set the record straight, anyone or anything that promises you to lose 20 pounds in 10 days should raise the big red-flag warning. You should check the FTC rules for claim violations."

Yang says. "After reading the NY Times article, watching TV news coverage, and watching their YouTube video, all I can say is that the doctor and the K-E Diet put the patient's health in danger, dispense distorted health information, misuse nutritional guidance, exploit the brides-to-be's desperate vulnerability for quick weight loss before wedding, and watch their profit before the patient's pocket," Yang says. "This truly put nutrition science, medical practice, ethics and greed at the crossroads."

Some of known and cited side effects of the K-E Diet are constipation, bad breath, dizziness, kidney stones, dehydration, and headaches. “It’s like the Atkins diet on a feeding tube, ” Yang says. "This type of weight loss lunacy gotta stop!" Yang comments.

Fitness Expert and Diet Coach Denounces Extreme Weight Loss 'K-E Diet' a Rip-Off

Extreme Weight Loss Diet to Fit Skinny Jeans

Medicine, ethics, and greed at the cross roads?

A new extreme weight loss diet , The K-E Diet,  featured in a recent New York Times article, involves having a nasogastric tube inserted through the nose and down into the esophagus for up to 10 days. The diet consists of a slow drip of protein and fat mixed with water, totaling 800 calories per day with no carbohydrates. Does it sound similar? It's like the Atkins Diet in a feeding tube.

The 10-day weight loss treatment costs $1500 and can result in the shedding of up to 20 pounds through ketosis, where the body burns fat instead of sugar. In order to fit their fabulous wedding gowns and look their best on wedding days, many brides-to-be go on all kinds of crash diets to lose 10 to 20 pounds quickly without realizing the side effects and the long-term impact on their health.

"For crying out loud, this is a biggest loser's hunger game," says Carey Yang, a certified personal trainer and fitness expert in New Jersey.

Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC -- a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.

The K-E Diet involves no hospitalization or doctor supervision - simply a bag filled with the food solution and a tube inserted into the nose. "I smell the conflict of interest in medicine, medical practice, ethics, and greed." Yang says.  "It's a rip-off!"

"You can lose weight on 800-calorie-a-day diet by yourself although it's below the safe daily calorie intake recommended by FDA and dietitians," Yang says. "And you'll be likely to lose muscle and water. When you resume your regular diet and calorie intake, you will gain all the weight back plus some."

Some of known and cited side effects are constipation, bad breath, dizziness, kidney stones, dehydration, and headaches. "It's like the Atkins diet on a feeding tube," Yang says.

"How can a normal, well person allow the doctor to stick a feed tube in their nose?" Yang questions.

Naso-gastric tubes are only used for patients who are unable to eat enough such as people who are in a coma, have had a stroke, or have a serious illness that keeps them from being able to get enough nutrition by chewing and swallowing their food. There can be issues from tube irritation in the esophagus, and in some cases the tube can be accidentally placed (or accidentally moved after being placed properly) and end up in the lung. When the feeding formula goes into the lung it usually results in pneumonia.

Yang says, "if you can't lose weight by eating right, exercising regularly and taking on a healthy lifestyle, no fad diet can help you in the long term."

"I have trained and coached brides-to-be before. If you want to look your best on your wedding day, start early. Use this opportunity to learn how to eat a healthy diet, learn about your relationship with food, learn how to work out and strengthen your body the right way ." Yang says.

"The choice is yours. All I can say is that K-E Diet is a biggest loser's hunger game," Yang adds.

The K-E Diet Fad Promises Instant Weight Loss Using Feeding Tube

Extreme Dieting to Slim Down

A new extreme dieting , The K-E Diet, recently featured in the New York Times, involves having a nasogastric tube inserted through the nose and down into the esophagus for up to 10 days. The diet consists of a slow drip of protein and fat mixed with water, totaling 800 calories per day with no carbohydrates.

The 10-day weight loss treatment costs $1500, the Times reported, and can result in the shedding of up to 20 pounds through ketosis, where the body burns fat instead of sugar.

Dr. Oliver Di Pietro, who administers the diet in Bay Harbor Islands, Fla., told ABC News the diet involves no hospitalization or doctor supervision, simply a bag filled with the food solution and a tube inserted into the nose. This is simply wrong. It's malpractice in disguise. Dr. Di Peitro should try it himself and lose weight himself.

According to a K-E dieter Melissa Gilson, “If they didn’t have the tube and just stopped eating they’d be considered anorexic, but under a doctor’s care and with a tube in their nose, it’s a crash diet.” Is that what a doctor's license and ethic is selling for these days?

In another case reported by New York Times, Jessica Schnaider spent eight days on a feeding tube, a process that costs $1,500 for 10 days, so she would fit into her wedding gown when she marries in Argentina in June. She had the tube removed early because she was losing too much weight.

What in the world anyone has to do that? This is stupid Bridal Hunger Games.
